About the Melanoma March
The Melanoma March began as a community fundraiser in 2012 and is now the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) annual national awareness and fundraising event. Each local Melanoma March event raises vital funds for melanoma research which we hope will also impact other cancers, as well as provide an opportunity for patients and families to come together to support each other and remember those lost to the disease. In 2024, thousands of Aussies from across Australia are expected to take part in local Melanoma March events.
About the Melanoma Institute Australia
The MIA is the world’s largest research institute with a single focus on melanoma. Australia leads the international quest to find a cure for melanoma. In addition to research, treating patients and running clinical trials, MIA also educates the community about the need to be sun safe. Our ultimate mission is zero deaths from melanoma – a goal our Co-Medical Directors believe will be reached in their lifetimes. But we can’t do it alone.
In supporting this year’s Melanoma March, you will be supporting the valuable research being undertaken by our 2024 Australians of the year, Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scollyer in their quest for zero deaths from melanoma.
I am more than happy to supply a letter of support from the team at MIA to verify I am acting on behalf of the Institute here in Canberra if you require one ☺️
Please do not hesitate to email me at dettecross@gmail.com with any questions and thank you for taking the time to read my email.
Thank you and very kind regards
