Arc Cinema presents a series of irreverent Friday night filmic feasts, curated and hosted by drag artist and culture warrior Venus Mantrap.

Cult Classics with Venus Mantrap explores the archives to showcase cinema with bite: films that unnerve, push buttons, ask questions and just look good on the big screen! Gather your tribe of misfits and rowdy rebels and join Venus for edgy movies, fan favourites and hidden gems.

Welcoming in our ‘Warped Winter’ series is everyone’s favourite coven, the Witches of Eastwick. Starring Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher in the titular roles, this 1987 horror-comedy follows three beautiful, and ultimately bored, women in the sleepy town of Eastwick, whose lives are disrupted by the arrival of one lucky devil (Jack Nicholson).

This box-office smash – an adaptation of John Updike’s novel – polarised critics but charmed audiences with its outlandish story and the comedic power of its lead actors. George Miller (Mad Max) toys masterfully with camp sensibilities in this visually striking romp where the battle for good over evil has never been raunchier and more wrong!

“Nicholson doesn’t need special effects; he is one himself… the film is an outrageous, foul-mouthed good time.” – Siskel & Ebert.

Includes pre-screening introduction and live performance by Venus Mantrap.

Presented on 35mm film prints from the NFSA collection.
