This is the extraordinary story of seven Chinese men and women who embark on a 3,100-kilometre journey from Lanzhou in northwestern China, across the Tibetan plateau to Everest Base Camp. From their story, we glimpse China’s past and present, and the changing culture of the Chinese people.
Co-director Zhang Zeming emerged in the mid-1980s as one of the leading new talents in China with his ground-breaking debut feature, Swan Song (Juexiang, 1985).
Presented in partnership with the NFSA Owls.
NFSA Owls are former staff and associates of the NFSA. Their activities include research, writings, storytelling, lectures, conferences, colloquia, and community events.
