No Lights No Lycra Canberra South is an inclusive dance community. We hire a hall, make it dark & have a banger playlist!

Venue is the Weston Creek Community Centre next to Cooleman Court – Entry is via the accessible side door in the Parkinson St carpark. Doors open 7:20 pm, Lights out 7:30 pm, Pay at the door, cash or card, $10 or $8 concession.

We have been running since 2016. No Lights No Lycra is a space where you can completely let go, shake out the stresses of the week, and lose yourself in the beat.
There are no steps to learn, no technique – just you, the music, in the dark.

No Lycra tho?
Just us basically saying, wear whatever is comfortable for you to dance in. If that means gym gear, go for it.

But how dark?
It’s dark enough for you to be free, but not dark enough for you to be blind. You’ll see outlines of people, but not who they are.

What about the music? Is it a banger?
We share our playlists after every session—just check out our FB page. We play music for everyone: rock, EDM, pop, disco, R&B, 80s, funk, country, whatever floats our way.

What’s the demographic? Is it a vibe?
Everyone! Honestly, we have people of all ages, from 20s to 70s, of all abilities, and genders. Kids over 12 with adult supervision are welcome.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been, feel awkward at the start, or have no one to go with, because as soon as those lights turn off, it’s a space just for you, no matter your ability.
