SUMMARY:Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize
DESCRIPTION:Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize exhibition invites audiences to be inspired by beautiful and profound nature-themed works of art. \nSince 2002\, the South Australian Museum’s Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize has called for established and emerging artists to turn their gaze to the natural world. Named after the South Australian Museum’s first curator\, Frederick George Waterhouse\, this biennial prize recognises the long-running interplay between scientific research and the creative arts. This is the only opportunity to view the artworks outside of South Australia. \nThis visiting exhibition to National Archives is a much-loved fixture in our programming\, inviting audiences to explore works from illustrators and sculptors who help to describe and depict specimens\, to contemporary artists who invite us to think about our environment and our impact on the natural world. \nExplore a compelling display of art and science seen through the eyes of internationally celebrated artists. \nEvery day at 11 am\, we offer a free object talk\, inviting visitors to learn more about the artworks in this exhibition. \nThe Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize is developed by the South Australian Museum and is supported by the Government of South Australia\, IAS Fine Art Logistics\, Hill Smith Art Advisory and the K&S Langley Fund.
