Street Appeal 2012 - Canberra Blind Society
3-5 May 2012
The Canberra Blind Society (CBS) will be holding its annual Street Appeal on 3, 4 and 5 May 2012.
This annual appeal is the only public fund raising event conducted by CBS during the year. The Street Appeal is a major source of income for the Society and we look forward to the usual generous response from the people of Canberra.
Staff from various Government Departments across the ACT will collect donations outside government buildings and from various levels throughout the buildings from 8.15 am onwards. Year 9 & 10 students from a number of ACT schools will also collect donations at shopping centres throughout Canberra on Thursday and Friday of the appeal.
CBS commenced in Canberra in 1958 and now provides a wide range of professional services to people who are blind or have low vision. These include: Home Assessment and Support, daily living skills training and publication of a monthly audio newsletter, the provision of social programs, the provision of regular “sense-able cooking” classes and demonstrations and Braille and tactual mapping services to clients and commercial customers.
CBS also works with other blindness organisations operating in the ACT region to provide a complete service enabling people who are blind or have low vision to maximise their personal resources and abilities.
The Society would be grateful to the Canberra Community for any donations given over the 3, 4 and 5 May 2012.
