The biggest asset in a tradie’s life (besides their toolbox), is their spouse, partner or family member who helps with the admin side of the business so that they can concentrate on what they do best.
Like many family businesses, the partner is drawn into the business when things start to get busy. Unfortunately, partners and family members don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Frequently thrown in the deep-end, they face a steep learning curve as they get their heads around insurance, bookkeeping, payroll, tax, software systems and marketing. They do all of this while juggling the demands of family, kids and their own career.
The workshops are relevant to all partners and family members; businesses of all sizes and types from sole traders to larger companies; plumbing, electrical, landscaping, building, mechanical and more.
The format allows for discussion and peer support and subject matter experts provide up-to-date information, resources and answer questions.
Topics discussed include:
His, hers and ours – whose business is it anyway?
Marketing strategies on a budget
Protecting your business and your family
Compliance and changing legislation
People problems - growing the business and taking on staff
Finances – Making a profit, cashflow, chasing payments and paying suppliers
Communication and problem-solving in the family business
Organisation - systems, tools and processes to make your life easier
